Ten
Years
After...
September marks ten years since we
published our first LUBE NEWS, and much
has changed here at Maxima since then.
Let's look at a few of the highlights
from the first issue:
NEW HEADQUARTERS: We'd moved our
headquarters from El Cajon. CA, to a new
facility in Santee, CA. We're still
in Santee, but we've moved again, to a
facility just around the corner...
MAXIMA SERVICE VAN: Mike Fisher Sr., was
preparing to hit the road in the then
new Maxima Support Service Van, to
supply product and technical assistance
at selected outdoor motocross and
supercross events across the country. Today,
you'll spot the Maxima van at MX,
Supercross, Road Racing, and Watercraft
events around the U.S...
L.R. CHOSE MAXIMA OIL: Off road
legend Larry Roeseler jumps on a
Kawasaki and returns 'back home' to
Maxima. "I used Maxima long before
I went with Husqvarna, and I'm glad to
be back with the best racing oil
available...". Thanks, L.R., we
couldn't have said it better...
MAXIMA HELPS SET NEW WORLD RECORD:
Japanese racer Mitsuya Takano uses
Maxima Super-M
to establish a new 3,000 mile, 4-week
endurance record in the Great Lakes.
OIL RATIO CHART OFFERED: Our now famous OIL
RATIO CHART decal was offered for
the first time. It's still much
sought after by riders, tuners, and our
competition...Now you can get it on the
web!!
2-CYCLE OIL MIGRATION: Another
Maxima hit from issue #1 was a detailed oil
migration 'flow chart', which
explained in plain English, with
illustrations, how oil moves through a
2-stroke engine. |

As
part of a continuing effort to improve
our test and evaluation capabilities,
we've recently installed a water-brake
dynamometer here in our Santee, CA
facility. It's similar to those found in
OEM engine development plants and
performance shops, and it gives us the
capability to perform procedures that,
until now, were either too costly, or
too complex to conduct. "We're in
an intense refinement mode right now,
and the ability to exercise more control
over products testing, and to do it
in-house, is crucial", says Dick
Lechien, President and Co-Founder.
"The dyno allows us to create more
varied and accurate test situations, and
we can do it at a moment's notice. No
more time lost waiting to get on a dyno
somewhere else".
One example of the current testing
procedures being conducted right now
involves a 2-cylinder Kawasaki 750cc
JetSki engine. Each of the cylinders is
completely isolated from one another,
allowing fuel and oil mixtures to be
fed, adjusted, and evaluated
independently. "The information we
gather from this setup is ideal for
evaluating detergent levels,
cleanliness, and wear. Plus, we're able
to perform 'shoot-out' comparisons with
competitive products, too. Same engine,
same speed, identical conditions".
Says Lechien, "Our Customers can
already see the results in our newly
reformulated Maxima
Super-M 2-stroke lubricant".

Maxima
Super M: Now it's Orange!!!
Maxima
Super
M is looking a little
different these days -- now
it's ORANGE, and enhanced with
a hot new additive package
that made already great Super
M even better! Here's why
we did it:
LET
THE TESTING BEGIN:
Several months ago, Maxima was
approached by one of our key
suppliers (one of the top
additive developers in the oil
business) to collaborate on
their additives development
program. They told us that
they'd recently created an
entirely new product that was
years ahead of the technology
curve. Plus, if we liked it,
we would have exclusive rights
for it's use. How could we say
no to such an offer?
BETTER THAN EVER:
From our earliest tests, we
learned that what they had
told us was true. The new
additive system was well
beyond anything we had ever
tested before, and when we
blended it with Super
M, we were astounded by
the results. 'Old Blue' had
not only changed color, but it
was cleaner burning, it showed
little or no scuffing, and our
long range tests showed no
significant wear decreases
over the original non-additive
formulation. Now, orange
you glad we made the
industry's favorite 2-stroke
oil even better!!
